Hyundai to launch all new Santro, pull back Getz

New Delhi: Hyundai India Motor on Friday said it will phase out its premium hatchback Getz by 2011 but launch a revised version of Santro next month.
"The Getz will be phased out in two years," said Company Managing Director and Chief Executive, H S Lheem at the annual convention of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM)
"We will launch a revised version of the Santro on September 1, and an 800 cc car in a few years,"said Lheem.
Maintaining that Hyundai hoped to sell about 5.5 lakh units, including exports, this fiscal, he said, "We expect to export about 2.7 lakh vehicles and about 2.8 lakh in the domestic market."
Lheem said the company will shift the production of its i-20 model for export purposes to Europe mid-next year due to logistical reasons. The company expects better sales in the upcoming festive season.
"We expect to sell around 40,000 i-20s this year," Lheem said.
Hyundai will also ramp up its production from two shifts to three, which will increase the capacity from 2,000 units a day to about 2,500 units, from September 14.

New Hyundai Santro Launches in India

After the Suzuki Maruti Estilo, Toyota Fortuner and the Harley Davidson’s bikes, the new Hyundai
Santro will launch in India this month (actually today on September 1st) with a bunch of stylistic changes. H S Lheem, the company Managing Director and CEO, said that the Indian buyers will be able to purchase it by the end of the year.

Although the new Hyundai Santro will feature a hi- tech eRLX engine and important aesthetic changes that took into consideration the customer needs and satisfaction levels, Hyundai India is “fighting” to keep its price unchanged. And since the new Santro remains their best selling model in the Indian market, not adding to the price seems like a good way to boost sales during a tough year.

The South Korean automaker have also revealed that they are considering plans to phase out their aging Getz hatchback
in two years, and that Hyundai i10 and Hyundai i20 will take its place.

Word is that the new Hyundai Santro will be priced from Rs 3 to Rs 4 lacs. Would you buy one?

Footnote: Just one thing to keep in mind before you flood your friends with important and not-so important messages using the abovementioned websites - an advertisement tails along with every message that you send. A 'small' irritant that your SMS recipients will need to deal with!
